Ad-hoc Northern Monkeys Meet

Post by David. »

Set off from home with three other non-RT riders for a two day trip to the Peak District.
We stopped at Holmfirth on the Northern edge of the PD, only to be met by "Surprise, Surprise" a.n.other RT Northern Monkey, who joined us for the best part of Saturday.
We rode from North to South, taking tea & cakes at Castleton & Hulme End, which is actually in Staffordshire.
All but a.n.other then headed to Chesterfield for our overnight stay.
Thanks to being shown a superb route by k9doc on a previous visit to the PD, we took breakfast at Grindleford Station on Sunday morning.
Did the k9doc tour to Castleton in reverse, then stopped at the Spotty Café at Langsett before heading back home.
A fantastic two days on some great roads, with plenty of nice P&T stops.

very enjoyable day, which worked out well.
I told Lindsey we would only be out on the bike for an hour with a coffee stop in Holmfirth but ended up being out for a day's ride and 3 x coffee stops.

Small world! In fact, It's that small we spotted you riding in the opposite direction going past the Ladybower whilst we were having a coffee at the side of the road, We'd just come down from the Spotty Cafe at Langsett on our little excursion of the Peak District. Lovely day for it! Image

Hopefully, weather permitting, the three of us, plus any others, will be out together next Saturday the 19th, for August's "Official" Northern Monkeys Meet, https://1200rt.com/viewtopic.php?t=4

Also spotted around 1140 going past the car park on Ringinglow Road. We were walking on Burbage Moor and just calling at the car park ice cream van. Small world indeed.

"I don't believe it", we will have been heading towards Castleton, arriving there at around midday.
