My 2008 RT tire pressure information comes on at will, one at the time, sometimes
none. After nine years, am sure the batteries are exhausted, and is time to change them
I think I can do it, after watching a few videos on how to.
http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/rt-series/1 ... ement.html
The only thing that bothers me is that there is no way of checking it after battery
replacement other than installing the tires and go for a spin. So my question here
is who have tried to replace and what were the results.
I know this gismo is not accurate, and am aware of aftermarket substitutes.
But for this one thing, I would like to keep it OEM.
TPMS battery replacment
Re: TPMS battery replacment
Watched the video on utube seems pretty straight forward and a lot less expensive
Guess only way you know if it works is try it
On this side of the pond, sensors are like $130 each at dealers,
Keep us posted on the outcome

Hi Jim! I am actually on the same side of the pond with you, only slightly up north.
And the price in your $ is average $190/each!

The idea of changing the batteries is appealing, and will give it a shot. Was just wondering what
is other's experience with this.

Re: TPMS battery replacment
Interesting project this, one thought that springs to mind is how are the TPMS gizmos sealed into the wheel rim. Is there some form of "O" ring and if so is this available as a spare part ?.
Re: TPMS battery replacment
I can give you as example from Max BMW parts RT 2005-09,
diagram #36 Rear sensor has a "repair kit", Oring included, at
"only" $46 :beee: I don't see reason to replace the ring, but am sure if
there is the need, can get one for a few cents!! The front sensor
doesn't require a Oring.
