NAV VI on central locking

Post by Rossyuk39 »

Should anyone wish to have the NAV VI secured using the central locking on the RT, please find attached a sheet we've compiled .... we have carried out 6 "farkles" so far :-)

Hope this helps people

Very interesting, but I have a couple of questions :

Does not having an audio system make any difference to the procedure ? and
Does "keyless ride" make any difference to the procedure ?

I have keyless ride and no audio system but I'd like to make this modification at some point.

Providing you have central locking obviously and the audio system, you can take the feed from either of the lockable storage areas, I think I am correct in saying, if the audio is not present then the offside storage isn't locked so you'll have to use the nearside one.

When I bought my bike it came with the audio system and keyless ride, I had no issues doing the "upgrade"

Hope this helps.

Neat mod.  Makes you wonder that if it were that simple why BMW didn't do it in the first place.  On my 2016 UK spec, if you don't have audio, then the offside (right) storage isn't there at all!  Don't see any reason why the left wouldn't work just as well though.

You are quite correct Sprintgull, the n/side would work just as well, the only reason I used the o/side storage is that I have the relays for my driving lamps, horns and therefore the extra earth(s) available, makes a neat job for when the BMW techs do their stuff, (as everything is labelled) until it runs out of warranty and I will do my own "spanners" :-)
