HELP! Central Locking & basic operation of 2 button key fob

Post by Kunkies »

Been riding for 40+ years, this is my first Beemer:  2014 R1200RT LC.

I am struggling with the basic operation of the central lock 2-button key fob.  I have read the owners manual (p.79 through 83) over and over again and still can't figure out the basic operations for. . .
-Central locking the bike
-Central unlocking
-Alarm enable
-Alarm disable

Can anyone summarize which buttons on the 2-button key fob to push?  I have searched this forum many times and most key fob threads are about resetting or programing/syncing a new fob.

Please help!

p.s.  yes, I feel stupid  :alas:

From memory and assuming it is the same as my 2015RT LC, press front (narrower) button to central lock everything, press front again to set alarm, press back (fatter) button once to disarm/un lock everything in one go...  Regards, Peter

Kundies,
I have had my 2015 RT (keyless with central locking) for three and a half years and only worked out recently that the central locking can be unlocked by pressing key-symbol button on the RHS multifunction switch. In my defence - and I suppose yours - I was too busy wanting to ride than to spend much time reading instructions. And even then the instructions only seemed to make sense if I already knew what they were telling me.
There is so much more I look forward to learning about my bike, but I'm in no hurry. I'd still rather ride than read!

Garr2, agree.  Frankly, I read the manual at least 3-4 times and still scratched my head.  Then I came to this AWESOME (eehhh hemm, excuse me) forum and my wishes came true.  Good stuff.
