07/05/23 Northern Monkeys Meet at Rivington

James (jesim1) who lives at Wigan expressed an interest in meeting up. The last NM meet ended up at Barton-upon-Humber, "the wrong side of the country".

I've never been to Rivington (near Wigan) and would consider riding from the Teesside area as per the route in the BaseCamp map below.



Would this idea appeal to any other NM's.

The P&T stops are at Oxenhope (outward) and Gisburn (return), could meet up/split from these places if it suits others to join in.

Looks like we could meet at Oxenhope (black) and split at Gisburn (blue), both about 45 mins away from you and Michael.



I'd have to check it out with Markus, I wouldn't ride all that way on my own.
I take it we would be looking at a Sunday. The weather would have to be good too.

How about trying to do this in the month of May which includes three Bank Holidays, all Mondays, 1st, 8th & 29th.
If it's to be a Sunday, then, 7th & 28th would be the only options for Markus & I.

If the weather is decent I may meet you at Rivington - obviously I'd do a different run, but a coffee and a butty would be fine, any Sunday it's dry is doable, I don't venture out in the wet unless I'm touring and don't have a choice, I've done enough days in the rain to earn my stripes

Markus & I are meeting Simbo & Michael at the Delicious Deli & Cafe, Gisburn, BB7 4HA.

Our ETA at Gisburn is 11:30, departing at 12:00 for Rivington, returning via Oxenhope.

Ended up doing over 250 miles from one side of the country to the other on a dry Sunday. Only to find a no show from less than 10 miles away but perhaps those miles would have taken an hour to ride.
