G'Day All! Just lashed out and bought a pair of DriRider Urban boots. I have had both of my ankles fused, resulting in minimal movement of the ankles (up and down). Have now found that the gear lever is too short for me to fit my new boot under it to change up. I adjusted the home position of the gear lever up as far as it would go, but still no joy. If the lever was, say three quarters to 1 inch longer, the problem should be solved. First I would like to know how to actually remove the lever, with a view to adding an extension.

Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

If the lever is made from steel as on my 07. It is easy to extend with a bit of welding. If made from alloy. You can buy adjustable levers on the market. The adjustable is held on with just 2 bolts. Cut your lever down and bolt the new bit on. These suggestions are only good if you can use a spanner and drill.

I extended the lever on my 16 plate.Its a piece of piss.Get some alloy tube that fits snuggly over the lever,cut down to desired length(from memory i went 3inchs)drill a couple of holes in it and a couple of grub screws. Tap the tube on(I stuck a bit of wood behind to take the impact)Then tighten using the grub screws.As I did mine at short notice I covered in gaffa tape,I'll get round to some shrink wrap or the like at some stage.

The coller was to help hold the tape in place,not sure why I used it
Went to Spain/Portugal, covered 2+k in 4 weeks,got home and its as solid today as the day I did it.

If you want one of those Steve,I've got one in the garage.By the time you've slipped it over the existing lever there's hardly anything left that's extended. Buying that is what made me do it meself (bit of a blonde comment there )
If anyone wants to try that extension Steve has posted then pop me a pm and I'll post it to you(free of charge)but I may have lost the grub screw,not sure

I bought a pre-owned Wunderlich one when I irst hot the bike which do the job, but I concede they provide less of an extension than yours.
The Amazon jobbies are considerably cheaper than Wunderlichs over-priced item
