Re: another newbie

After a test ride I've ordered 2017 RT LE with the high seat option. I found on my 2013 model that the standard seat in the high position was the most comfortable and the shape of the 2017 model seems to make it a little easier to reach the ground. I'm 5'11" with 32" inside leg. Weight mus...

Re: Newbie

Yes think Remus do a complete system, that will also work with the Akra. You should also then go for a remap. I looked at it when my flap was broken. Think the system and re-map came to about £900, which was cheaper than a new BMW system. But in the end BMW replaced the whole lot so I didn't bother...

Does anybody do a replacement system which does away with the cat and the exhaust valve rather than just replacing the silencer ?

Re: Best place to buy.

The ebay link part no. is 77 43 8 544 630 at a cost of £602.70, put this MPM in the KFM site, it comes up with £654.23, http://www.kfm-motorraeder.de/cms/en/genuine-spare-parts/bmw-spare-parts?itemid=77438544630 Presumably priced in Euros and therefore subject to currency fluctuations ?  :(

Re: Considering an RT..

I asked last month about one in a showroom and apparently later higher number ones are 17 spec.  Could have been salesman blurb of course. My dealer salesman told me that 2016 models came off the production line before the August holiday, 2017 models then started to be produced when the fa...

I have a pair which I had made locally - but these Harley ones would have been cheaper !  :-X

Re: Final drive

I've just traded in my 2013 RT with 34,000 miles on it. This was my 3rd RT and none had any problems with the final drive. The first, a 2007 model had a rear wheel bearing replaced very early in it's life then ran without mechanical fault thereafter. Hope you get it sorted and regain confidence in t...

Re: Anyone seen this before? - missing bolt on oil line

..... I was giving the once over to my 2013 RT today as I am setting out on a long trip next Saturday. I spotted this. It appears that there should be a fastener on what I assume is an oil line from the sump. The hole on the oil line bracket and the frame don't appear to be perfectly aligned so I a...

Re: Spain and Portugal

Looks like you had a great trip ! I've done similar trips on similar bikes, also two up and fully loaded. Once did Portsmouth to Bilbao, but it's a very long day getting to Portsmouth for me, so Newcastle or Hull have been favourites. You've just put me in the mood for planning a 2017 trip ..... :ka...

.... What am I missing, but to me few seconds with a junior hacksaw on the soft alloy brake lever and the bike can be wheeled away by a thief? Yes, you're absolutely correct, but on the plus side, the same thief would have to have disabled the steering lock as well. A disc lock is significantly har...

I have a heavy duty ABUS disc lock which I haven't used for a long time. I now use something like this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-handlebar-throttle-grip-lock-PT22-security-lock-red-/401194191237?hash=item5d69098985:g:Ko0AAOSwLnBX5VSG Handy on ferries (locks the front brake on) and no ch...

Re: Considering an RT..

I had a test ride (225 miles) this week. The bike was an "Iconic" model, so had central locking, gear shift pro etc.
Smoother, quicker and not quite as economical as my 90th Anniversary model.
Deal negotiated, platinum bronze metallic LE ordered. Delivery due week 47 - roll on ! :kacsint2:
