Re: Bowing out
Hi, I appreciate that some of the less constructive comments are from highly opininated individuals that you find on any social group. However as you can tell from the number of members compared to the minority that create the disharmony, or unable to express themselves constructively it is worth pe...

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #2
Agree Casbar, needs a bit of self reflection on these highly contentious issues. In order to add clarification about where, when and how they are used have a look at the attached from page 105. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/223943/traffic-signs-manual-chap...

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #2
Hi Casbar, might have misunderstood it but that was what the Police instructor said on the workshop, when following him he seemed to be doing that. either slowing or accelerating between the signs to be at the speed when crossing it. It does appear that there is a measured distance between speed sig...

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #2
My view is that BtB has found a way of expressing his journey and those who want to partake in it should treat it as that. I would not see it as instructional or express comments unless something untoward is going on. For instrucional videos some of them come from attending the advanced courses. The...

Re: tall screen for sale (UK)
+1, ride down through France to Lucca. The screen was brilliant at stopping the wildlife making a mess of the crash helmet and the clothes. Also allowed me to lift the visor and now and again when it got too hot lift the flip-front. Haven't looked at a different screen as the standard seems to work ...

Re: Rear Brakes sticking.
I Haven't done the rear brakes but replaced the pistons on the front pair, see the thread in maintenance. Not sure if you can take the pistons out completely without damage as they are in pretty tight. They could have the same problem as my fronts where the dirt sticks to the piston and prevents it ...

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #1
Not being in the same category as Exportman, Casbar and others who have doen the IAM/RoSPA, so not sure if this is right. I tend to work on the revs and not the gear depending on the conditions. I keep mine between 3-4000 and change gear as and when needed. That range keeps me within the speed limit...

Re: Unusual Tyre wear?
These are my Bridgestones after 9,200 plus, tread depth even across both are 1.6mm so due for a change. No perfomance drop off or noticeable squaring off, keep the tyre pressures to recommended and only notice the drop into the corner when the pressure goes down.

Re: Considering a used r1200rt (14-17)
Being 5' 4" and inside leg of 28 most bikes are a challenge. My '10 RT is low chassis and low seat, get both feet down. Can just about paddle it around on flat ground, have to get off and push when it slopes. Would love a reverse like the K1600GTL.

Looks really neat, although how much luggage is that, presume it's camping gear? That's a very expensive option for cylinder head guards:)

Re: Which disc locks are owners using ??
I use an Oxford and it doubles up as the lock for the chain when left in more vulnerable places and for any length of time. The only problem with the chain is it's not long enough to wrap it round any of the fixings if there are any. Downside of a longer one is the wieght. The newer Waitrose car par...

Re: 2008 RT
I'm in the nice looking camp, had more complements about the RT than my old CBF1000. Usually not from the crowd that pull into Loomies in their leathers R1's, Ninja H2, Fireblades, Panigale / Diavel, HP2s and S1000's but then again I can't tell the difference between them except for the Diavel Carbo...

Re: Upshifting RPM's
My Twincam seems to be happy doing most jobs between 2,500 and 4,000. Only take it beyond 4 when coming off slip roads into 70mph traffic or getting away from a fruitcake in a car. Although sometimes catch myself out being too lazy on a downshift and pulling from 1,500. The engine is extremely toler...

Re: Front brake piston service
Thanks gogs01 and simbo. Forgot to mention this is on a 2010 twin cam and noticed other models in the dealership don't appear to have a bleed on the Master, unless I missed it.
