Good decision!

Pannier protection from BMW

Hi In a rash moment I ordered the rubber/plastic and hideously expensive pannier protection guards. £155 later I have 4 bits of plastic with some thin allegedly sticky bits to press in non-indicated positions against the pannier… no cleaning wipes, no instructions. I appreciate it’s probably meant t...

Re: Interesting and Entertaining R90S Build.

I'm rather surprised by the absence of anti-seize compound on any of the various nuts and bolts that may require removal at later date. When I got my used 2018 model I applied coppaslip to every fairing bolt I could find and unfasten, and some of them were a bit creaky to remove... but I guess that'...

Re: Check your Number Plates

The term UK could of course be completely meaningless if the Scottish go independent. My I.O.W home briefly and unsuccessfully called for independence many years ago, but I still (illegally) display their flag on my numberplate, which may mystify the average Gendarme... not that I consider he'd give...

I still use TYRE as they have the use of Google maps back. Recent updates have improved the ease of use for their program.

Re: 500+ mile days.

On our annual tours we try to work our routes and overnight stops for 4-5 hour days, with stops every hour or so for fuel, water, food and, at my age, a comfort break. We've only done extended hours when we've decided to cut the holiday short, as in one instance where our intended 4 days in Germany ...

Re: Hello!

When I changed across to my 2018 RT from 11 years on a Pan European in December the biggest change, and challenge, was the multitude of menu/settings options. I know it's all in the handbook but sometimes the BM-speak is more confusing than trying a hit or miss method, happily I had a friend who has...

Re: Modifications and/or Accessories

Tyres can change the handling of your motorbike, therefore, as per Devitt are a modification. However, White Dalton Motorcycle ( Specialist ) Solicitors, https://www.whitedalton.co.uk/motorbike-blog/2018/08/does-my-insurer-need-to-know/ say, "An Insurer should not refuse to pay out if you repl...

Re: Speaker space

Thanks Bob, having found that it all fits quite nicely I'll look at some way of putting a permanent shield between the compressor and heat sink. I've seen on another site that someone had used the shell of an old speaker unit which made the new storage area completely contained, but from what I can ...

Thanks for the reply, it’s a 2018 model with, I assume, heat sinks for the Angel Eyes.

Speaker space

I’ve read a couple of posts from people who have stored such things as puncture repair kits and mini compressors in the space behind the speaker grills on the LC models. It seems a good plan, but obviously the space is not waterproof and it appears to have LED heat sinks at the back. Will whatever i...

Re: Time for a new suit

I generally run 2 suits - a Rev’it drop liner mesh, and a BMW Streetguard which I've just bought to replace a Rukka. The Rev’it mesh which I've had for 10 years was inexpensive, great for summer and down to about 10c (with the liner) and infinitely better than shorts and flip-flops. My one concern i...

Re: Engine bars

I agree but I don't plan on buying more than one set for the life of the bike, and it'll probably work out cheaper than a 'drop' repair.

The other things in my 'If I won lots of money I would like' list is front/rear Wilbers suspension, but that costs lots more than the crash bars!
