Re: Metzler Roadtech 1
I'm on my second set of Roadtec 01 tires. New set installed by dealer when I bought my RT used. Replaced 1st set with about 12,500 miles on them, could have probably gone another 2-3,000 miles but wanted to get it done before getting into the 2020 season. Excellent grip dry and wet, never experience...

Re: 12,000-Mile Service Completed
I just did my 12,000 mile service about 2 weeks ago. Oil and Filter change, Air Filter replacement, Rear Differential fluid change, Gearbox oil change (also lubed splines), Spark Plug replacement, TB Sync, Valve Check, Inspection per BMW, read On-board computer and reset maintenance reminder with GS...

Re: Differential Rear Spline Lubrication Interval
I am guessing, but not sure that the transmission output end is more protected from water and intrusion that might cause corrosion or damage to the splines. The FD end has the rubber boot that is subject to damage or water intrusion that will affect the splines on that end. I'd have to look at a dia...

Differential Rear Spline Lubrication Interval
Replaced tires on my RT today and last final drive service was about 10,000 miles ago but I decided to go ahead and do the service rather than wait 2,000 miles since I had wheels off. It is my understanding it is recommended to be done every 12,000 miles or maybe every year. At my last rea...

Wunderlich Luggage Crash Bars on Low Suspension RT
Wunderlich says Rear Luggage Crash bars will not fit a low suspension 2010-2013 RT as the mount "may" contact the swingarm at full compression. Does anyone have experience with this? Based upon the instructions and all I have seen, I am not sure how likely this is or if there are any modif...

Re: Basecamp & Mac Catalina OS
I am using Mac Catalina v10.15.3 and Basecamp has been working fine for me. Basecamp version is 4.8.7 and I see there is an update in Mac App Store to version 4.8.8. It seems at some point I downloaded the program from the Garmin web site after I had some issues with program and I deleted ...

Very intermittant miss or surge
Have a 2010 R1200RT purchased used with about 52K on the clock and now about 14 months later it has just over 64K. With colder weather in Chicago it was not ridden for 3-4 weeks with our Halloween freeze and when I took it out I noticed what I would call a very intermittent miss, possible surge unde...

Re: Skeene Rear LED lighting kit for 1200RT.
I have mine (2 pairs) connected to a HexEZCAN, allows for various configurations. There was a controller that I purchased from Skene that allowed various functions but it was not simple plug and play and using the EzCAN was easier and took up less space than a second controller. https://uploads.tapa...

Re: Top case
I painted my top case and to do so I just separated the bottom and top, a bunch of screws at the hinges and then just taped off the rest. Took a bit to tape everything off but worked just fine and seemed easier than trying to take the entire thing apart.

Re: Engine bars - 2005 RT
You might take a look at Heed, many happy owners with these, may be not as nice at Illium/Wunderlich, but a step above the Chinese made bars. Made and shipped from Poland, they sell them direct from their website and via eBay. I've been happy with mine. https://heed.com.pl/en Hi,...

Re: GoPro mount
If you get a RAM clamp mount, a socket arm (various sizes) and a ball with Go Pro adapter you can mount the camera at various locations and it can be removed and moved around. Handlebars, engine guards, grab rails - pretty much anything with a bar or a surface you can clamp onto. RAP-B-400U (small c...

Re: Indicators (Turn Signals)
My 2010 RT has single switch on left side. If you read reviews for the 2010 model it appears this is the year they made the switch. Too bad they didn't get rid of the fuel strip until mid year production... I have owned a 2008, 2010, 2013 and (currently) a 2016 (2017MY) R1200RT. Therefore, I should ...
