The bike is listed as a 2008, but I noticed the mfg. data under the seat says it was manufactured 2007...that makes sense ... to get it to market in 2008, you have to make it in 2007....

Wow! For a guy who thinks changing the oil and shaft oil is a BIG deal, that's quite a procedure. Clint Eastwood once said
"a Man's got to know his limitations."
and he was right. I would never even attempt that! Still, it makes me think the local mechanic I use might be able to... cheaper than the BMW dealer.

I've written to that shaft drive supplier to ask how long it takes to ship one. I want to be fully prepared when next I speak with the Dealer Mechanic.
