G'Day from WA (Western Australia)

Post by Howelligan »

G'Day All, I recently joined the ranks of BMW R1200RT Riders in Australia, as a 'silver lining' to a my Kawasaki 1400GTR being 'written off' by would-be thieves, in my carport, on New Years Eve. I've had a long-term wish for a BMW Sports- Tourer, & after an ST100 & two 1400GTRs I pretty excited to finally have one of my own.๐Ÿ™‚
The fortuitous acquisition happened back in February, however, the minor inconvenience of a badly smashed ankle curtailed my actually getting on her. But, after what felt like an eternity I was finally able to safely make the 900+km journey to Perth to collect her, rode her around for a few days to make sure the ankle was up to the task, then rode her home over two days. It turned out that I probably could have done the whole trip in one day (& in future I likely will), as she's a whole lot more comfortable to ride than my previous bikes, so while there was some minor 'saddle soreness' it was realy quite minor & thankfully my ankle didn't cause me any great discomfort.๐Ÿ™ƒ
So now she's home & not surprisingly I'm coming up with an endless list of 'things to do' to customise her to my tastes & needs. Which is how I've come to be here. I'm hoping to tap into the forum's collective brain to gain useful knowledge & advice in how best to achieve some of my goals.
Thanks in advance.๐Ÿ™ƒ

Welcome aboard.
Nice looking bike. Enjoy the miles and I hope your customising of the RT doesn't break the bank

Thanks Mate.๐Ÿ™ƒ
Too late! It seems I've already done that.๐Ÿ˜ณ
But I'm thinking of it as an investment in my personal safety, the bike's security, & my enjoyment, so it's all good.๐Ÿ˜‰
Plus, I don't have anyone to question my decisions, so I can't get it wrong.๐Ÿ™ƒ
